Investing (pretend trades, real prices)
Kids buy shares at real prices; nothing is really bought.
What it is
Your kid can move money from Save into pretend shares of real companies and funds. Prices are the real closing prices each day, so their shares go up and down like the real ones. You're the bank: gains are paid by you, like interest.
Why it helps your kid
Kids learn that investing grows over years, drops sometimes, and that funds spread the risk. They learn it with small amounts and a parent there to talk it through.
Where to find it
Kids tab → your kid → Investing (to turn it on and set a limit). Kids use the Grow (5–9) or Invest (10+) tab.
How to do it
- Tap Turn on investing on their page.
- Set the Investing limit: the most they can have invested. A 700+ credit score doubles it.
- Buys and sells happen at the next day's closing price, like a real order placed after hours.
- The page shows what's invested, gains so far, and how much a 20% market swing would change it.
What your kid sees
An Invest card at the top of Home and Me with their value, today's move, and a sliding strip of prices, always labelled with the day of the close. Teens also get a chart, a watchlist and a risk view.
Questions parents ask
Are prices live?
No. They're the last closing price, and the app always says which day. Live prices need a paid data license.
Can they lose money?
Their pretend shares can go down, yes. That's part of the lesson. You decide the limit.
